Google has launched a new and widely anticipated “disavow links” tool. The tool was announced by the head of Google’s web spam team Matt Cutts, when speaking during a keynote at the Pubcon conference today.

This is a very interesting feature that Google has launched.

I think that a lot of research needs to go into how to put a process into action within GWMT to ensure that this tool is utilized to the fullest and most importantly not used to accidentally block quality links!

Great Tool!!!!

It is really nice to know that we can handle the Spam links our own & don't need the usual request for removing the spam link from the respective backlink sites. It is definitely Google's right step for handling unnatural links which are pointed to the site.

Vow!!!! Then what will be the future of reputation management ? If we can disavow the the links which are affecting our reputation then I feel this will be the end of reputation management. Any Thoughts/insights on this?

Also I am extremely happy that Google is continuously clarifying the importance of PageRank. Below is the latest from Google Support

http://support.google.com/webmasters/bi ... er=2648487

"PageRank is Google’s opinion of the importance of a page based on the incoming links from other sites. (PageRank is an important signal, but it’s one of more than 200 that we use to determine relevancy.) In general, a link from a site is regarded as a vote for the quality of your site."

Really very useful tool, As said Ibrahim, I think it will be simple to remove to any sites links who are harming our reputation. So this will save our site from spammers.

Wow - I can't believe I somehow missed this being launched. Obviously it's been coming for ages - but I didn't see any of the coverage of it actually launching. I haven't seen any bad link warnings in any of the GWMT reports I've looked at - but certainly something we want to watch out for.

Edit: For some reason I thought it was later in the month than it actually is. I thought this was a week ago then noticed the actual date just now.

Yeah this is something I'm noting in my presentation today - if you don't show that you've made effort to get links removed then Google might not pay attention to your disavow request.
