This was an interesting one and something I have experience doing. It's a great way to legitimately dominate your brand SERPs. If you get great coverage from another site, doing out of your way to get it to rank for your brand terms will help you. It's also worth considering when discussing paid advertising opportunities with sites. Even if the site wants to nofollow links from paid coverage, the post/page itself may be able to rank well for your brand terms with the right SEO.
