Mail management over IMAP - how to sort, delete messages

Postby jenni » Sun Mar 14, 2010 10:16 pm

IMAP (Internet Mail Access Protocol) allows access to mail on a server without the need to download the mail to a client machine. This keeps mail on a centralized server while allowing access from multiple clients running on multiple machines.

Wonderful technical read on IMAP functionalities.

Why can't we provide customers with custom mailbox as an additional functionality in ADMIN section or Client Center.

Good discussion on IMAP.

Just be aware that the mailboxes need constant upkeep otherwise the size will just grow. Especially with the size of attachements that are being sent these days!

As Lead Management system can provide more service / features than a mailbox system, it's better not to get those mails in the admin section.

IMAP's sole functionality is for fetching the data from the mailbox of the particular account and its not a mail box.Its used to fetch the body or attachment from a mail and do a particular process as defined by the developer in the script.
