Good stuff.

Here's some other articles along the same lines:

http://www.stonetemple.com/majestic-seo ... -shootout/ - from earlier this year comparing only OSE and Majestic.

http://www.seobook.com/comparing-backli ... -providers - From just a week ago, comparing ahrefs vs. OSE vs. Majestic vs. (unlauched) Ayima

The latter is particularly interesting if you take a look at the comments. Majestic responds to the accusations in the articles and the debate really heats up. SEO DRAMA!

Interesting, The fight between Alex Chudnovsky and Rob Kerry was fruitful to read, Alex Chudnovsky really outperformed all, thus making Majestic SEO a clear winner. He just used his crawler for re crawling the complete backlink for SEL and uploaded the data(Links given in the comments section of the post) Also while going through the posted link, I found another interesting link .

He explains the structure in which they produce the metrics & the features they are going to roll out in future.

From all these discussion its clear that, Majestic SEO is clearly a head in terms of Freshness of data, updates, percentage of links reported is much higher but it also contains dead links, low quality links. if we are looking for high quality links the better to use OSE. When we see in Client perception, Client may want to see the numbers and how fastly the SEO guys are making backlinks. So better to use Majestic for reporting.

Thanks Mike for pointing out the link from Seobook :)

Great Articles Mike.

I just gone through the first article regarding the Majestic & OSE shootout. It is a surprise that for following Majestic out beats OSE

1.Freshness of Data.

Majestic is faster for finding out the new links updated & Indexed.SEOMoz index is not updated compared to the former.

2.Prediction on new updates

Here also Majestic wins as they always open to their new updates. In this case it seems that SEOMOz is always hiding their updates & usually comes through their own blog post.

3.Percent of links reported by Google Webmaster Tools that Majestic/Moz know about from a variety of sites

When comparing the data with GWMT backlink indexes Majestic has a slight advantage. In this case in my opinion even GWMT data is not accurate as in most cases it shows repetitive entries.

Just like Branko concluded me too having the same opinion of SEOMoz is intended for finding out the most important links which are pointing to the targeted sites Majestic gives more comprehensive data related to the same.

Also we cant neglect the improvements of Bing Webmaster Tool in their attempt to re-introduce the Link Explorer (Beta) in their phoenix update which i think I had mentioned in the blog some times before....

Good point about Bing's WMT. I haven't looked at their version of WMT for quite awhile. It certainly had some promising features, but they hadn't seemed to be working fully last year.

I agree that OSE is great for high quality backlinks. I would also stress that the PA and DA statistics are very useful since they have a strong correlation to a page or domains ability to rank. It's interesting to see how Majestic followed SEOmoz's OSE in adding "Trust Flow" and "Citation Flow" metrics. In my experience these do not seem to be as fully realized as the DA/PA/mT/mR metrics in OSE, but Majestic is clearly working hard on them.

Similarly, Majestic has followed ahrefs in adding a dead backlinks report.

I'm glad to hear you guys enjoyed reading the argument between Alex Chudnovsky and Rob Kerry in the comments. I thought that was very enlightening. I was concerned by the issues with Majestic pointed out in the main article, having not heard of them before, but it's great to see Alex was quick to come back with an exhaustively researched rebuttal.

I've pulled up the interview with and our blog post about Bing's Phoenix update. Thanks for linking them.

This is great! Not only do we provide great infographics to the public but if launched properly can improve our link popularity from it. A great infographic is 50% of the value.... having people see it is the other 50%! Well done team! Lets keep this coming!
