Open Source PHP Shopping Cart

Postby DJ » Thu Feb 14, 2008 1:06 am

Hey guys… in need some quick information.

Does anyone have any good suggestions on any open source shopping carts? I am going to a meeting tomorrow and they want me to look at their current cart and make suggestions on implementing a good open source cart that may have lots of features and easy to install.

Are you aware of any of the more popular ones?

Pls advise!

Open Source Shopping Carts

Postby Prashant » Thu Feb 14, 2008 1:44 am

The top 2 open source shopping carts available on the web would be.
1.) OSCommerce (http://www.oscommerce.com/)
2.) ZenCart http://www.zencart.com/

Apart from this, another good shopping cart would be Cubecart, which sells at 179$. In my opinion the ideal one would be either OScommerce or Cubecart.

I have integrated some sites using cubecart in the past and found it to be easy to skin and play around with. Cubecart has now upgraded to V4 with lots of improved features and php5 support. http://www.cubecart.com/site/features/ Shyjo has experience with OSCommerce as well as ZenCart.

Both OSCommerce and Cubecart are powerful and have good online community to back it up. Ultimately, the choice can only be made depending on the clients need and the features he would want to incorporate (I.e. Product Display Options, Stock Level, Shipping/ Payment Module etc...)

I agree 100% with Prashant,

I have alot of experience with OScommerce.
Zencart is actually a fork of oscommerce. several of the original developers of oscommerce left to start their own cart, zencart.

I have always wanted to try cubecart, actually.
It does look really good, with lots of features, pretty good price too...
